Liddel Water Lodges... The Luxurious & Tranquil Escape

Hi everyone!

It's been a little quiet over here on our social media, as I've been somewhere pretty spectacular. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of staying at Mine Track Cabin- one of the two Liddel Water Lodges situated on the English-Scottish border in Penton.

Mine Track Cabin is perfect for every occasion… whether you’re a bride-to-be after a relaxing, pampered weekend away with your bride squad, newlyweds booking a minimoon to unwind before jetting off to the Maldives, or a family ready to spend some quality time together.

This luxurious two storey log cabin, which was even hand built by using locally sourced larch trees, sleeps up to 10 people. With 4 master ensuite bedrooms, and one bunk bedroom which sleeps 2, every guest has a stunning country view of the Cumbrian landscape.

The décor of the cabin features inspiration of Cumbrian roots and riverside living, yet has a nod to a true Scandinavian interior design, through the maximisation of natural light, warm wooden walls and luxurious muted tones.

The cabin really does have that feeling of "home", with a beautiful log burner, baskets of cosy blankets and a wide variety of unique and interesting books to allow your mind to switch off from your work, and stumble into another world. You can bury your head in the Sweet potato and Vegan recipes cookbooks, ready to experiment in the fully equipped, luxurious kitchen… or expand your knowledge in the book about Shinrin-Yoku; the Japanese way of forest bathing, Mine Track cabin really does have a book for everyone's interests.

Whether you’re socialising with friends, spending well deserved quality time with your family, or enjoying some quiet time together as newly weds on your minimoon at the lodge, the large open plan area on the first floor of the cabin is wonderful for every occasion. The fantastic room builds the appetite to cook a delicious feast, with state of the art kitchen and a stunning handcrafted table seating ten, overlooking nothing but the breathtaking Cumbrian country side and river Liddel. Although it sleeps 10 guests, it never has an overcrowded feeling, with enough space for everyone to truly enjoy time away from their busy lives, and step into the wonderful world of simple living. The cabin has recently been fitted with speedy WIFI, which means you’re always able to upload that hot tub selfie and the champagne-popping Boomerang… but to me, the best part about being at the cabin is being in the middle of nowhere, with no service, and truly enjoying that rare and special quality time together. My Wifi was officially off!

One of my personal favourite areas of the log cabin has to be the outdoor space, equipped with a wrap-around balcony, a top of the range barbeque, 6 person hot tub and a fire pit. Can you think of anything better than a soak in the outdoor hot tub with good company, a glass of fizz and a roaring fire pit?! Don’t worry, every guest has their own bathrobe and spa slippers provided for that chilly transition from the cabin to the tub!

Another fantastic feature of the Mine track Lodge is that up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcomed to stay for just £25 each, which means you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings by enjoying one of the many

lovely walks in the area, or by taking a stroll into Scotland (just 2 minutes away from the cabins!) If you fancy a little drive, Kielder Forest, the largest manmade forest in England, is just a 45 minute drive away, and a perfect place for a picnic and a tranquil walk with your four-legged friend. You can also explore Scotland, Cumbria and of course The Lake District.

For a quick drink or a beautiful meal, Pentonbridge Inn is just one mile away from the cabins, serving locally sourced and delicious produce. We visited the Inn for Sunday Lunch, and with clear plates and full tummies, we all had raving reviews… but don’t forget to book, as it’s definitely popular for the locals and does get very busy!

So, if you’re looking for a luxurious escape in tranquil surroundings, then the Liddel Water Lodges are a place for you. There truly is nowhere else in the North of England quite like it.
